Glasgow hotel map

There is so much to see in Glasgow and Scotland that it makes mobile citizens' heads spin. citizenM Glasgow offers hotel accommodations in the city centre, right near the SECC, architectural feats and cultural attractions.

Marked by its turbulent history with Celtic beliefs, battles, legends and the most beautiful romantic episodes, the country, small in size, is large in everything else: Ceilidhs kilts, bagpipes, whisky, golf, Nessie or Niseag (in Scottish Gaelic), the famous Loch Ness monster, historic sites, magnificent medieval castles and rugged coastlines and the oldest national flag still in use are all in contrast to its modernity and youth.

The Scottish capital, Edinburgh, has a landscape worthy of admiration. The city is divided into two sections, the historic "Old Town" with medieval alleyways, cobbled streets and Edinburgh Castle, which dominates the city and overlooks the modern, "New Town" with its more contemporary architecture like the Scottish Parliament Buildings and the National Gallery of Scotland. World famous for its numerous cultural attractions, the Edinburgh Festival attracts nearly 1 million visitors every year. Edinburgh's museums are home to Cézanne, Gauguin and Monet paintings. Edinburgh is also the UNESCO city of literature.

Stirling, "Gateway to the Highlands," is the home of Stirling Castle, one of the most important castles in Scotland, both historically and architecturally. Many Scottish Kings and Queens have been crowned here and it was the site of many major battles during the Wars of Scottish Independence, involving Scottish freedom fighters William Wallace and Robert the Bruce.

Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, is bursting with style and culture. Architectural and cultural attractions and high profile exhibitions hosted in the city resulted in Glasgow being awarded the European City of Culture in 1990 and UK City of Architecture and Design in 1999. The architect and designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh is one of the city's most celebrated sons, and his buildings are still visible in the city today. These buildings include the Glasgow School of Art, the Willow Tearooms, Scotland Street School Museum and House of an Art Lover, to name a few. The city hosts a number of festivals and events, including Celtic Connections, The International Comedy Festival and Glasgow International Visual Art fair. The Clyde Auditorium and Glasgow's Borrowland Ballroom, which opened in 1934, hold regular concerts, and are complemented by a number of smaller live music venues throughout the city. The largest city in Scotland is certainly a top place to be for Business citizens too, with Scotland's premier exhibition centre, Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (SECC), located here.

Playing golf is a Scottish passion, there are over 550 golf courses, Gleneagles, Royal Troon, St Andrews, Carnoustie, Muirfield and Turnberry. More? Scotland's Highlands is the romantic side of the country. Locks, castles and mountains form some of the last wilderness in Europe.

Surely mobile citizens feel enchanted with Scotland and citizenM hotel Glasgow's accommodations are in the midst of it all.
